Answers a plenty..
Don't let the intro AUD scare you, If anything it is cool to hear the crowd reaction to the Stephen! Phil's bass very nice in the mix. Jerry mesmerizing
...
on guitar. Very high quality Soundboard! Set 2 (Monster list here:) Stephen ->Eyes ->Let It Grow ->Drums ->Let It Grow --------[40 minutes] The answer to the answer man is the first notes of EYES, Wow , it doesn't get much better than that. Nice mellow EYES with big fat Phil bass lines and JERRY and BOB on guitars. Keith in there somewhere but not as forward as 73/74 About the 5:40 mark they get pretty spacey & start jazz exploring. The 7:00 minute mark they find the EYES again but not rushing it at all. 8 minute mark JERRY brings the lyrics. Everybody with a mic singing the chorus. Has to be one of the top versions I have heard. Garcia pretty expressive on those vocals! And Donna Jean has to lead Weir thru the b-h-t /s-e-s "Sometimes the songs we hear are just songs of our own" Weir shadows Donna on the final chorus. Phil Bass licks and Weir and Garcia exploring outward. Listening to how they are going to ride this into LIG. I wouldn't say the jam out of EYES is a separate jam rather just a nice transition into Let it Grow. In fact that guitar intro is beautiful with Phil right there as well. Vocals come in a little hesitant at first but good to hear Weir sing it as Donna is weaving in & out. "Listen to the thunder shout ,"I AM" The after slight drumz back into LIG is very sweet B.E.Women, Lightnin' ->Supplication, High Time Samson & Delilah, It Must Have Been The Roses % ------[30 minutes +] B.E.-has no problem working in 2nd set. great vocals! LL-the better the sound quality & separation , the more I truly appreciate this tune. "LIGHTNING" Supplication- "A bolt of Inspiration" The Dead air has been taken out of this recording and with the great tune selection. I would say that is a very good thing indeed. High Time- Love this in the Second Set. Jerry right on the vocals. "Living the good life" Garcia & Donna have great chemistry from JGB shows. SAMSON-not even a week since the -ftp- in Portland, Or. and i like that they bring it mid set. THE ROSES- another very mellow Garcia tune selection. This show has jams but also some sweet ballads! Dancing In The Street ->Wharf Rat -> Around ---[This Threesome almost 30 minutes] Jam good in Dancin' but sort of seems like Weir not totally geared up yet to sing this again after so many years. (probably new for Donna & Keith as well) Favorite version-MIT STEPS-5/6/70 also like FROST-4/27/85 Wharf Rat- a more traditional 2nd set Ballad in the last ballad slot of the evening. Never big for 'Around' but I will admit it has grown on me with listening to so many different versions over the history of the performance of the tune. LOVE that Chuck Berry guitar flavor along with Weir being Weir. When they double time it to the finish line..Nothing better,, To some extent BOB & Donna are never going to be able to keep up with Garcia on guitar especially when he is at breakneck speed. E) Franklin's Tower -I have never even imagined Franklin's in the encore spot, VERY COOL 'Roll away the dew" EXCELLENT SHOW*****
